When it comes to photographing children, especially younger children, I really do more guiding than anything.  I try to guide them in various directions and see what develops.  Small children are so naturally curious, so what develops naturally is perfect for photography.  

Currently I do not have an indoor studio, but that is okay because the outdoors offers many amazing backdrops for a portrait of your child. 
Older children can present a more difficult challenge in capturing the real person.  They are so used to having to “smile for the camera” that it can be difficult to draw their real personalities out. Often times showing interest in them and their favorite things can draw that more personal side out.
